At ZER01NE DAY 2019, kinetic artist Dakd Jung presents a kinetic fluid installation, the result of his research on material. The focus of his last ZER01NE project in 2018, The Fount of Art, was on understanding the material nature of kinetic fluid and improving its chemical and mechanical mechanism. This year, Jung brings attention to kinetic fluid as a medium of artistic expression.
Jung studied how individual components of kinetic fluid may be substituted by other material, and then developed his unique kinetic fluid. 660 electromagnets installed in a water tank react to cameras that capture the movement of visitors and create movement in the kinetic fluid. The moving fluid makes visitors feel as though the fluid is imitating their movement or the fluid itself is a living organism.
