Wonbaek Shin and Hyuns Hong of the media artist group LOVOT LAB explore the questions stemming from life and experience in a world of technology using light art and robotic art. They are particularly interested in the coexistence of humans and technology, of which the latter is represented by robots.
The project sheds light on the human-robot relationship based on the interaction between visitors and a robot in the form of a 4-year old child. The child robot learns emotional expressions based on its interactions with visitors using cameras and body motion tracking software. GESTURE I investigates human emotions and magnifies the challenge of humanness using gesture data from actual interactions.
