Game designers and artists Youngju Kim and Hoyoun Cho study ways of collaboration and accomplishing solidarity in the era of AI through their experiments on game mechanics.
Looping Tales is a multi-player game that allows up to three players at the same time. Because three mini games are connected through a server, collaboration is required between the players who control different “domains.” If an AI agent in the first domain learns something, that new knowledge is updated to the agents in the other domains. However, because the change in each independent object is only recognized through the single brain—or the ‘unconscious transfer’ among the AI agents—direct communication between the agents is not possible.
